Tarangire National Park is home to the largest elephant herds in East Africa and is renowned for its majestic baobab trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old. Located approximately 120 km southwest of Arusha, this park boasts an impressive density of wildlife, rivaling even the Serengeti in terms of animal population relative to its land size.

Visitors to Tarangire will have the opportunity to spot a diverse range of wildlife, including wildebeests, zebras, elands, hartebeests, buffaloes, gerenuks, fringe-eared oryx, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and an abundance of bird species.

For those with limited time but eager to experience Tanzania’s incredible wildlife, Tarangire National Park is the perfect one-day safari destination in the northern circuit.

Additionally, you will have the chance to visit the Maasai people, who live along the park’s boundaries. It is a fascinating experience to witness Maasai children herding their cattle in close proximity to wild animals, offering a unique glimpse into their traditional way of life.

Itinerary

I will pick you up at 07:00 AM (with packed lunch) and drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival at the entrance gate, I will register your tour, which will take a few minutes, and then we will begin our game drive inside the park.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and wildlife, before continuing with an afternoon game drive.

Afterward, we will exit the park and visit a Maasai village near the park boundary, where you will spend about 30 minutes learning about their unique culture, traditions, and way of life.

Following this cultural experience, we will drive back to Arusha, concluding your incredible Tarangire safari.
