Arusha National Park Experience.
Tour Overview
Arusha National Park is located at the foot of Mount Meru, just 35 km from Arusha
town, 40 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport, and 75 km from Moshi. It is an
ideal destination for travelers with limited time, especially those unable to visit
other parks like Tarangire or those with an afternoon flight.
As the
closest national park to Arusha, it offers a fantastic opportunity for early morning
game drives. Visitors can enjoy diverse wildlife sightings, including large herds of
zebras, buffalos, giraffes, and even elephants.
A highlight of the park
is the ranger-guided walking safari, allowing guests to experience wildlife up close
while exploring the parkβs rich flora and fauna. The walking safari concludes at one
of the most beautiful waterfalls in Arusha, providing a breathtaking experience.
The park also boasts stunning views of both Mount Meru and Mount
Kilimanjaro, as well as the scenic Momella Lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, and lush tropical
forests.
For those seeking an extra adventure, canoeing on Momella Lakes
is available with prior booking, offering a unique perspective of the parkβs beauty.
Itinerary
I will pick you up at 08:00 AM with a packed lunch and drive to Arusha National Park.
Upon arrival at Ngongongare Gate, I will take a few minutes to register the tour, and
then we will continue driving through the park while enjoying wildlife sightings on the
way to Momella Gate.
From there, we will park the vehicle and embark on a ranger-guided
walking safari, which will last between 2 to 4 hours, depending on your interest. This
walk offers a unique opportunity to experience wildlife up close and immerse yourself in
the parkβs rich flora and fauna.
After the walking safari, you will enjoy a picnic lunch
inside the park, followed by an afternoon game drive. We will visit Momella Lakes, known
for their scenic beauty and abundant birdlife, and explore Ngurdoto Crater, often
referred to as the "Little Ngorongoro" due to its breathtaking views and diverse
wildlife.
After an exciting day, we will drive out of the park.
For tours ending in
Arusha, you will have the option to visit the Tanzanite Experience Museum before
drop-off at your hotel. This is a great opportunity to learn about Tanzanite, the rare
blue gemstone found only in Tanzania, and if interested, you can purchase a piece as a
souvenir.
